Whale

Remember the post I did with Matt and Peter Garret, doing the whale hands, for the save the whale campaign in Oz. Well, here is Amalie doing her's. They are trying to get everyone to send in a photo to help support the cause. Even I did one. Now, is it just me or do her hands look big?

Sofa

I think you probably have to have a great house in L.A. to have this sofa, but I love it. Fun shape. Found it on The Shelby website/blog. Prob not the best for lounging and tv watching, but I am guessing if you had this, you would just be entertaining all the time.

Orchid

I love orchids, who doesn't. But, usually so expensive. We took the ferry to Ikea a few weeks back and got this baby. Around $12 - soo cheap, and not delicate at all. A laster.

CocksComb

I love these flowers, very wintery, and they almost look like they have been crocheted or come from the sea, but they are a pain in the bottom. They shed 1000's of these spherical beads. Drives me coo coo. I only get them once or twice a year and I always forget about the mess. The color is really intense and vibrant, the photo doesn't quite capture it.

Flowers from the Farmer's Market

These don't look that good in the photo, but they really are quite lovely in real life. From a few weeks back. I have quite a few flower posts to put up.

If i had a foyer

i would want this. yellow is just lovely, and it's just a fun, cheap little thing from Urban Outfitters. Think i saw it on remodelista. so much great stuff on that site. i love it.

And I do

We love to have coffee down by the water, and even though it was a bit chilly on the weekend, and we were both a bit coldy, we went down to get some gentle rays and some outside air. I like the name of this place, can you work out why?

Kids say the craziest things...

I love to hear all the silly things the kids say or do, and I just saw this on another blog, where a mum writes the whacky things down and sticks it in a jar so she doesn't forget. I often remind Wendy of stuff one of the girls has said and she couldn't remember. Such a shame. Think all you mums should do it.

What Star sign are you?

Can't remember where I found this, is it true for you???

Aries must have frequent dental check-ups.
Taurus should marry a man of means.
Gemini, often the face is too long or the nose is too long or big.
Cancer tends to be lazy about beauty and should be encouraged to make the effort.
Leo, if ambitions are not fulfilled, can have difficult menopause.
Virgo remains surprisingly youthful despite hypochondriac tendency.
Libra rarely gets fat.
Sagittarius is torn between bright, amusing men who are good talkers and her desire for a solid social position.
Scorpio is hypersexual and often attracted to men who are her inferiors.
Capricorn is always well turned-out and insists on quality in clothes.
Aquarius is often slightly neurotic and with fragile health.
Pisces, feet are the weak point and pedicures essential.

The Hyena and Other Men

I got this book for Nick recently. Images are disturbing but fascinating and gross and beautiful (in an ugly way) all at the same time. About this band of Nigerian men who capture the wild animals and use them to perform in streets. A sort of busking. But they also sell medicines and other potions. If you see it in a book shop, take a gander.

Double Crown

Double Crown
316 Bowery
(@ Bleecker)
East Village

Double Crown: Get ready to double your pleasure on the Bowery—on Sept. 16, AvroKo, the slick design firm behind Public, is opening Double Crown, in the old Mannahatta space. While it doesn’t look like much at the moment, expect the 150-seater to have a jaw-dropping interior—in addition to Public, AvroKo’s design wizards are behind timelessly chic Park Avenue Spring, European Union, and Stanton Social. Originally, the restaurant had a working name of Superior, but that was recently ditched for Double Crown, reflecting a scene and cuisine inspired by Britain’s 19th century colonial reach into the Far East (India, SIngapore, and China). Public’s chef, Brad Farmerie, has been uprooted to oversee the kitchen, along with by Australian chef de cuisine Chris Rendell, and ideas so far include curried mango Coronation chicken tea sandwiches and tandoori marinated foi gras. A separate bar and lounge, Madame Geneva's, will serve British-, Indian-, and Asian-inspired cocktails. So there you have it—another regal destination and another nail in the coffin for the city’s former skid row—imperialism, indeed.

High Shelf

I like this room. So nice and bright. But I particularly like the high shelf and photos.

Phoebe's Birthday

I wish I was there. Poor spidey, I am not sure how he feels about the dress. And Gwen, I like how Phoebe's dress matches the cake (I could do with a slice right now). Mum, i like the beret. too cute. x

Sneakers

I am not really a sneakers girl but I think these are cute. Not sure where I would wear them as they don't look like proper running shoes, but something to think about. Thoughts?

Smoked Salmon with potatoes

In a bowl grate some lemon rind, add some salt and pepper and olive oil and add hot potatoes cut into cubes. Add a little bit of vinegar
Cool.
Plate some smoked salmon on a plate, around the edge (as potatoes go in the middle).

Add some dill to the potatoes (large tablespoon or so) and then spoon to middle of plate.

Get a big spoon of creme fraiche (or yoghurt ) and add some lemon juice to it with some horse raddish if possible and salt. It will be looshish. Drop it on the salmon.

From Jamie Oliver. Who doesn't love potatoes and smoked salmon??

The Perry Renovation

How cute are they? Looks like they are having stacks of fun. No shower at the Perry household, so they are having kitchen fun.

Mexico

We love Mexico, and adore Tulum. This is a different area but looks lovely. A bit fancier than where we usually stay. Keeping it here so it's easy to find if we want to go. Maybe for Nick's birthday next year. It's the billionnaire Jimmy Goldsmith's estate set on 25,000 acres.
Site here . Better photos on the site too.

Pandora?

A name for consideration for Wendy. Thoughts? Obviously, I am going with the P thing here. Pen, phoebe and Pandora.
