Another Chicken in A Pot

This is from Jamie Oliver's website. Found it on The Kitchn. Interestingly, it's cooked in milk, The picture alone makes me want to try. Shall report back pronto...

If we had a weekend house in the country, i would love this quilt. So pretty. From the new Pottery Barn catalog. The picture is great, isn't it. Just sets the scene - like fancy camping. Could be great for Wendy, a bed for each of the kiddies.

Food.com

This is a new site. Basically allows you to save all your recipes in one spot. Good idea me thinks. I put them all over. Some on the blog, some on my computer, so hopefully this will be of some use.

Something else from The New Yorker. I thought it was very funny, so if you have a moment, have a read of this article. Only a page.

Kid's Birthday Cakes

How I love a kid's birthday cake, and didn't mum make us the very best cakes with the help of the glorious Women's Weekly Birthday Cake book . How Wendy and I poured over that book with our greedy eyes whenever a birthday was approaching. Well, here are some more ideas for you mothers. 31 different kid's cakes and shows you how easy it is to make them too. I might just make one myself. If I do a dinner or a lunch. Now that would be unexpected wouldn't it?

Saw it on the kitchn.com but link is here

This is a cartoon from the New Yorker, I love their cartoons. Anyway, I have been cleaning out my desk area and I found this card that I had kept from way back. Nick got me this card for my birthday a few years back. So cute (New Yorker sells their cartoons in books, as prints, on cards etc)

Oil Spill

I can't believe this, so sad. And right in Caloundra too. Such a disaster. I was saying to Nick that it is literally unimaginable that stuff like this can happen. And somewhere you know so well. Just Awful!

Good Idea

Should be one of Martha's 'Good Ideas'. just a chinagraph pen from a craft shop. Good for parties when people always forget which drink they are drinking. Going to get one today.

I wish I had legs like her.

Serena and Lily

This is a great new(ish) kids catalog/site. Started getting the catalog a while back, not sure why or how. From the look of it, it looks like it could be part of the anthroplogie family. Anyway, all very pretty.

Uptown

I never venture uptown anymore, especially not the east side. Last week I had a meeting near 59th street and this was the view from their reception. Not bad is it? Definitely NY winter-scape. Can you imagine how pretty it would be in the summer?

Matsugen

Last night we went to Matsugen, which is a new-ish restaurant in the hood. We had their $35 prix fixe dinner. Absolutely delicious, 6 courses and everything was amazing. Space is pretty impressive too. Very Asian minimalist. A great place just for a cocktail too. We've been feeling guilty for eating in the neighborhood so much - it's not very adventurous, but i think it's the thing to do in the recession. Want to support the local businesses.

Pot Roast

Too hot for Oz, but this was easy and delicious and perfect for winter.
It's from Ina, the 'Barefoot Contessa' , a new favorite of mine.
Recipe here

Differences: i didn't have leeks or celery or rosemary and i didn't add brandy, i didn't have home-made chicken stock so used 3 stock cubes instead. Also added a bay leaf.

Also, you need your Le Creuset, it's stove cooking and then in the oven.
Sorry, couldn't find a great picture to accompany this.

Live Art

I love the look of this, I've seen it a few times, but perfect for a courtyard. Caroline, this could be nice on the neighbors wall outside your kitchen window.

Will and Lolita's Wedding

We went to Will and Lolita's wedding in Miami on the 21st February. So much fun and I took lots of photos which I will post soon, but they had a photo booth at the reception. Fun idea.
