or blissblomb. That was the name of my chinese silkie bantom. Wendy and I both had a pet chicken. Oh so cute. And even laid eggs! We were always told that they were for show/pets, and you couldn't eat them. But, guess what's in the pot....
Oh, what a lovely memory! How I loved those chickens!! Indeed, we were told that they could not be eaten! But, really, how could anyone eat such a cute, little fluffy chooky?
Remember, when Baka's (our grandma) neighbour complained about her Chinese Silky Rooster, Gorgy, because he crowed in the wee hours and the Council came out to inspect; and on the day he came out, we were at their place watching telly, and I was lying on my back with Gorgy sleeping on my tummy? And the Council man was so awed by this gentle pet that no further action was taken!
Come to think of it, I don't think my chicken WAS called Fluffles. I think I renamed Blissblomb Fluffles after you went to London because I decided she should have, in fact, been correctly named Blissbomb -- and that sounded weird after we incorrectly called her Blissblomb.
So what was MY Silkie called then? Was it Min-Min? Remember how my pets all died way before yours and I even had the misfortune of choosing the baby Rooster when us grandkids got to `foster' a baby chicken -- which meant MY chook ended up on the table at Christmas!!
even i remember blissbomb. how awful is that pic of them cooking one? ironic that you love chicken so nat?? we have no floors. builders started this morning, pulled up the floors, found them all rotten and eaten away and now there is just dirt! i will take pics and send. its quite funny to walk into the house and see just dirt and walls. its exciting - although as someone said to me today: day 1 is exciting but when it turns into 3 months and you still have dirt floors and haven't seen the builders in a month, the gloss wears off. here's hoping thats not our story. cx
caro. bit louis is loving it. is he? must love having your dad down. yes, the time is a factor for us. i think thats why we keep putting it off. i am hoping we start before we come to oz, so while we have to wait for counter etc in kitchen, we'll be away and not mind so much. gwen. i wonder if mum remembers.
