Blissbomb

or blissblomb. That was the name of my chinese silkie bantom. Wendy and I both had a pet chicken. Oh so cute. And even laid eggs! We were always told that they were for show/pets, and you couldn't eat them. But, guess what's in the pot....

Meg... Coming to a billboard near you

Here are some pictures from Meg's recent work trip to the Northern Territory in Oz. She's going to be in the tv commercial as well as a magazine ad (I think). I believe these images are from the magazine ad. Oh what fun one can have in the NT! Very cute.

Skipping Rope

Cute idea for a kid's room.

Hammam Towels

Don't they just make regular towels look simply pedestrian? I am obsessed with these. I cant imagine they work in the same way (but what do i know?) but they sure look delicious. I have to get some I think. I just love them. Again, saw them on remodelista.. The cushions are just delicious too. Maybe for the country cottage, what do you think? We have a laundry bag very similar that I love. Great site worth bookmarking. Laviva-home.com.
Beautiful photography too.

Dream Bedspread

I have so many. Another is a cream vintage lace one over white sheets. I saw one ages ago which I think was portugese. So pretty. Anyway, this is so glamorous, but it's chenille which I don't think is a particularly lovely material. But I still want it. Keep your eyes peeled if you see anything similar. Saw it in the September Martha magazine.

Fortune Cookie

We were too lazy to cook the other night so ordered in. This was the message found in my Fortune Cookie. Lovely, right? I think I might blow it up and frame it.

Beautiful Bathroom

Isn't this gorgeous? Our bathroom is so small you virtually have to go in sideways, so we wont be able to copy it. It's from remodelista.com which is one of my go to blogs each day. Always great stuff on it. I so love the rug thing. And its cheap. I am not sure where we would put it but I just want to buy it anyway. It's available here

Portraits By Penelope

Can you guess who it is? Well it's Nick and me at the beach by Miss Penelope Larter. The scans don't quite do them justice but they are super cute. I think Nick has a mushroom quality to him, while Nick says that clearly she was influenced by Edvard Munch's The Scream when doing mine. Bravo I say. We may just have to frame these and add them to our picture wall.

Tequila Lime Chicken Tacos

So up my street in terms of flavor. Must make this. I guess I can just use a rotisserie chook which makes it even simpler. Yum.
Recipe here

New Moma Catalog

Some stuff I am liking from the new catalog. Some for me, some for gifts.

The oil/vinegar might be nice for the new kitchen. While the petit fours are for fun for a little kids' party (they are made of fabric) and i just love the alphabet puzzle. I want it for myself but its for ages 3 and up so will have to find someone to give it to.

Pretty house stuff

I think this is all so lovely. Love the tile. Caro, what about something like this for your hall?
Click on pictures for a bigger view.

Peacock Chair

Isn't this yum? It's on the cover of Domino mag this month, and I want one for a little nook we have. All our furniture is so 'beige', that this would be a bit of fun and I can pretend I am Queen of the land. We have said we won't buy anything until we renovate so it will have to wait. Probably good in a way, i'll see if i still like it then or if it's just a fad (they seem to be everywhere at the moment).
Our friend Ginnie used these exact chairs in a gym (!!), fun right?

Gordon Ramsay's version. This time with ricotta.

Interesting Article

About this guy who is literally a chameleon. Just read it on the aeroplane. As an adult he would pretend he is a child and fool teachers etc. He even said he was a boy who went missing for years and sort of fooled a family. Take a read. From New Yorker.

Roasted Tomato Soup

Probably a bit hot here to have the oven on, but as it gets cooler, i'll be making this.

Wheatberry Salad

Yum. You have to soak the buggers for a while, but it's something different. I am sure you could use another grain.

Corn Cupcakes

Not really. But made to look like corn. No recipe, just some jelly beans on cupcakes and then holders on the end.

Deodorant

Ok, I know I have done a few posts about 'healthy' deodorants, but this is amazing for stinky, sweaty pits. It's probably so bad as it really is impossible to sweat with this stuff on (you put it on before bed) but, sometimes it's just unavoidable.

Herb Pot

I've posted something similar, but a good idea. Over here, when you get herbs, you get enough for a building so inevitably, lots of waste. Nice to have something alive in the kitchen too.

Grilled Eggplant

They've stuffed it with goat's cheese which I don't like. But it looks pretty so I will find something to stuff it with. Maybe a nice big slice of mozzarella and and a sun-dried tomato

Prints

I think these are so pretty. I had bookmarked the site and just found it again on the weekend. Illustrator is Australian so I will have to review the site again before I head over and maybe choose one for myself. Available here if you want to see a bigger collection.

Inspiration Board

Cute Idea. And Cheap. I wonder if it would look like complete rubbish if you did it yourself, i.e. too homemade.

Or, we could do this with the nook.

If the apartment was bigger, this would be a nice thing to do with the bedroom nook area. Not the dear head, but the sofa thing.

New Bed

I love that this is so unfussy. We have a little nook in the bedroom, and when we do the renovations, we are thinking we will move the bed (head) there. Need to check the dimensions of this one but I'm liking it. It's just a cheapy from Ikea so probably a piece of crap in the flesh, but I keep it on the blog to remind me to check it out.

More flowers from the farmer's market.

XoXo

Anyone recognize this building? It's where Serena and family live in Gossip Girl. It's the Palace Hotel in midtown Manhattan. Can't wait for Season Two. I think it starts in about a months time. Speaking of TV, they were filming Ugly Betty in the 'hood recently and the trailers were outside the apt. We saw Betty, Marc and Christina (who all looked exactly as you would imagine) and Amanda and Wilhelmina (who were tiny tiny tiny).
(For some reason, I can't rotate the image, so it's on its side - sorry. The tree shot is one I took on the same day, somewhere nearby).

London Calling

I'm heading to London today for work. And staying through the weekend, which means I get to see Simone and Hunter. Can't wait. I'll take plenty of photos.

New Watch

I've been thinking about getting a new watch for ages. I have had my trusty Tag for about 15 years now and am toying with getting a new one. Steve (Moore) has been promising me his Rolex for about 10 years now, and last time I saw him he said he would give to me when I get married. So, I think I might just have to get my own. Had never thought about gold, but am actually loving this. Haven't seen it in the flesh and might be tack tack tacky but like this I think I like it. It's a vintage watch from the 70's.

Morning Coffee

We try and go for a run each morning (i walk, Nick runs) and when we are finished we meet at North Cove for a coffee. Such a nice way to start the day in front of water and the boats. A bit Sydney don't you think?

Phoenix

I was in Phoenix at the end of June for work and took some photos of the hotel. So desert-ee and different from NY. And hot as hell as you can imagine. It was at least 110 degrees each day I was there. I could barely leave the hotel room. I'm trying to bring my camera with me whenever I leave the house.

Flowers

The latest from the Farmer's Market. We get a new bunch each Saturday, but as these are proving to be lasters, and I go to London on Wednesday, we didn't buy any this week. Not sure what they are, but they sure are pretty.

Farmer's Market

I love our little farmer's market. Not big and fancy like Union Square, but has enough for us (especially with our new Whole Foods supermarket on the street). Don't these berries look delicious?

EBay

Has anyone sold anything on Ebay before? I got these shoes for myself but got them in a few sizes as I couldn't remember what size I tried on, and they were on sale, so I didn't want to risk missing out (I ordered them over the phone). The left over pair I am attempting to sell on Ebay. Will let you know how it goes. Aren't they pretty? I've never really been a wedge fan, but for reason, these I love. Think its the color. Like the way I have staged the shot? A bit rubbish, but trying to show the shoe, the fact they are new, and that I have box and bag.
