The Fun Stuff

Haven't even thought about buying any of the cute, fun stuff - just buying practical items and clothes. Saw the owl and the mouse today at potterybarn. Cute. The mouse is cuter in the flesh - looked lovely just resting on a bed. Starting to get organized...

Bread Boards

I love old bread boards, just so pretty. Would love to buy some but trying to de-clutter at the moment. wayyyy too much stuff in the house, and still lots to get for the baby. But a pretty picture so I thought I would share.

Green Slime

Something to make on a rainy day - although may be on the messy side and you may want to restrict where kids can play with it. Green slime - from Martha. Odd picture, but the one they had with the 'recipe', so it was just easier to include. I watched this episode, looks easy to make.

Baking

We got a bread maker for Xmas from Nick's dad and stepmum. I think you have seen the horrors it has been producing - not a patch on my 'made-by-hand' loafs. Shame, because in theory, it should be so simple. After speaking with the manufacturer I see that part of comes down to how finicky baking is, i.e you need measurements to be exact, not estimates, and flour is hard as packed cups are very different to aerated ones. So, best to measure all ingredients when baking. Here is a cheat sheet I mainly use for flour.

Another Air Plant image

Just teasing me. If only I could find ones this pretty in the real world.

Shantaram

Have you read Shantaram? Good book set in India. A novel, but based on the real life adventures of an ex-con Australian. Don't let this bevan-y picture of him put you off. On the whole, a good read.

GOT to Love Martha

An excerpt from a new book about her.

This baby is just the cutest thing. Looks like a doll. Funny little baby bath, isn't it?

Meg went to Taronga Zoo yesterday to see the new baby elephant. Instead she sent me a picture of giraffes. Cute, but not as cute as the baby elephant!

I love airplants and succulents so much, but can never find the right specimen when actually shopping. I'd like two of the above please for the dining room table. Too gorgeous, and what a lovely colour.

Liberty of London for Target

Target tend to have some pretty great collaborators. A few cute things from the line available this Sunday. Baby stuff would be cute.

Sydney, Today, 6.45am

From our Sydney correspondent, Ms Meg. Looks rather lovely, doesn't it. Although, have to say, we are having a rather glorious day here. Not beachy or hot, but great sunny, warm day which makes a nice change.

When the little ones are too damn creative

This looks like a clever idea. You want to show off the art work, but you don't want wallpaper - solution, scan the paintings/pictures etc and make one big picture! Can't remember where I saw this - I think it was on a few sites.

Grilled Zucchini, Mozzarella and Prosciutto Salad

Made and taste-tested by Caroline before giving it the thumbs up. Looks fantastic. Recipe here from taste.com.au
